Why Accent Reduction Works for Non-Native Speakers
Think of this not as replacing your natural accent, but as adding a feature to your communication toolbox. It will reflect who you are in your native language more effectively into English language.
Accents can be modified, and many people can learn new speech patterns with proper training and practice. Actors do it all the time when preparing for a new role.
Our standard program spans 12 weekly sessions, providing a structured foundation for accent improvement.
The Science Behind Your Accent
Your accent is simply muscle memory. As you pick up your first language, your brain learns how to move your jaw, lips, and tongue to form sounds. These movements became so automated that you don’t even think about them.
English has its own unique movements, just like any other language. The problem is, your brain is defaulting to what it already knows – your first language’s muscle movements.
This is the same muscle memory that you use to walk, move, swim etc. but it’s located in your face.
The good news is – muscle memory can be retrained at any age with the right approach.
The 3 Steps That Make All the Difference
1
Schedule a FREE Consultation
We’ll analyze your speech patterns to identify which of the 44 sounds in English are affecting your communication. Most students I work with focus on 10–12 core sounds, enough to noticeably improve clarity.
2
Personalizing the Plan
Your plan will prioritize the specific sounds that may help you progress more efficiently – so that you can be confident in any situation.
3
Become a Confident Speaker!
Your goal will be to practice those target sounds hundreds (sometimes even thousands) of times per week, reinforcing the muscle memory needed for clear and confident speech.

Proudly Serving the London Metropolitan Area
This is what my students wanted to know
before signing up with me
Do I need to be in London to join?
Not at all. All sessions are held online via Zoom, so you can join from anywhere—whether you’re in Canary Wharf, Croydon, Edinburgh, or even abroad. This means you don’t have to deal with London traffic or train delays, and you can still get the same personalised, face-to-face coaching experience as you would in person. Some of my students even take sessions during lunch breaks at work or while travelling for business.
Will this make me sound “American”?
My training focuses on helping you develop a clear, neutral General American accent, which is widely understood across the United States and by global English speakers. You won’t be learning slang or trying to imitate a specific regional dialect—just the pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation patterns that make spoken English easy to understand in business, academic, and everyday situations. The aim is not to erase your identity, but to give you the clarity and confidence to be understood the first time you speak.
How soon will I notice improvement?
Many students tell me they start noticing small changes—like being understood more easily or getting fewer “sorry, could you repeat that?” moments—after the first 2–3 weeks.
Will I lose my identity if I change my accent?
No—this is one of the biggest misconceptions about accent reduction. Your accent is part of your identity, and my job is not to erase it. Instead, I help you keep the unique qualities of your voice while making your speech easier for a wider audience to understand. Think of it as upgrading your communication skills so your ideas shine through without your accent getting in the way.
What do I need to get started?
You only need three things:
-
A stable internet connection
-
A smartphone, laptop, or desktop (Zoom works on all of them)
-
A quiet space for your sessions
That’s it. If you have a decent microphone or a pair of headphones, great—that can help with sound clarity during practice. But it’s not required to start.
-
How is this different from free online videos?
YouTube videos and apps are great for general tips—but they can’t listen to you and spot exactly what you’re doing wrong. In personalised coaching, I identify the 8–12 specific sound changes that will make the biggest impact on your clarity, and I give you targeted practice for them. You also get real-time feedback, which means you’re not accidentally reinforcing mistakes.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is your Accent Assessment. I’ll have you read a short text, answer a few questions, and have a natural conversation. From there, I’ll analyse your pronunciation of key vowels, consonants, rhythm, and intonation. You’ll walk away with a clear picture of which elements of your speech are making it harder for others to understand you—and a personalised plan for fixing them.
Can I really change my accent as an adult?
Many of my clients are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Accent change isn’t about “learning like a child”—it’s about training your muscles and ear to produce and hear English sounds more accurately. Just like you can learn to dance, play piano, or improve your golf swing at any age, you can learn to speak more clearly.
